Tech News of the Week in India: Meta AI is now available on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and also on the Messenger app in India, and all major telecom service providers announced a tariff hike to push Average Revenue per User (ARPU) to Rs 300.

Meta’s major social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram now utilise AI capabilities enabled by their in-house Llama 3. These Meta AI features are also integrated into WhatsApp and accessible via meta.ai through web browsers. Key features include conversational style chats, image generation, and converting images into animated clips. These services are available for free on both mobile and desktop platforms
Airtel, Jio, and Vi tariff hikeMobile recharge plans from all three major private telcos have increased by up to 25 per cent to achieve an average revenue target of Rs 300 per month. Airtel and Jio still provide unlimited 5G data, but this benefit requires a plan with a minimum 2 GB per day 4G data limit. These revised plans will take effect in early July, and Jio allows users to stack older plans to save money before July 3.
