*SKIMS Refers 350+ Vacancies to JKSSB for Recruitment*
Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar has referred over 350 posts to the Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), with expectations of filling these positions within six months, according to the newly appointed director, Prof. (Dr.) M. Ashraf Ganie. The director expressed confidence in overcoming the current issues at SKIMS and aims to resolve all problems within a year.In his first 100 days, Dr. Ganie plans to address manpower, equipment shortages, and maintenance problems by collaborating with relevant parties. A total of 367 positions, including paramedical staff, have been referred to JKSSB for recruitment, which is anticipated to be completed within six months. Faculty recruitment has also begun, with a commitment to filling these roles promptly to ensure a qualified staff.Dr. Ganie highlighted the international standards of SKIMS faculty and emphasized the need to enhance public perception of their high-quality work. He noted that SKIMS produces specialists and super specialists who are recognized at national and international levels. There are plans to elevate the research culture at SKIMS to international standards, aiming for global recognition of their contributions.He also mentioned plans to procure a new MRI machine and make a third CT scan functional soon, with government support. Addressing the shortage of essential medicines, he assured efforts to ensure the availability of all necessary drugs for patient convenience. (RK)
